Meet Our Chief - Jeremiah Calhoun
Hello, I am Jeremiah Calhoun and a native of Moneta.   I have been a member of the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department since 1992 and I have served as an officer for the past eight years.  I have had the opportunity to attend much training over the years and I am certified in the following areas:  
  • Firefighter II

  • Hazardous Materials Operations

  • EVOC

  • Driver Aerial Operator

  • LP Gas Emergency

  • Leadership I & II

  • Managing Tactical Operations

  • Aircraft Rescue Firefighting

  • S-200 Initial Attach Incident Commander

  • Rural Water Supply

  • Incident Safety Officer

  • Farm & Vehicle Extrication

  • Bus Extrication

  • Swiftwater Rescue Technician

  • Ropes I

  • Basic First Aid

  • National Incident Management System (NIMS)

 

In addition to being the Chief of this department, I am a member of the Bedford County Special Operations Command (SOC) Est. 2003.  This team consists of members from various agencies throughout the county.  These members perform special duties such as, Collapse, Ropes, Urban Search and Rescue, Trench, Swiftwater, Hazmat, Confined Space.  

As my paid profession, I am a Concrete Superintendent with Counts & Dobyns Construction.  I have worked in the concrete industry for over twelve years. 

I would not be able to do all of this without the support and love of my wife of nearly ten years, Krista and my two wonderful boys, Ty and Wyatt.
